Want to use something other that Microsoft Windows....
   
   Ubuntu - Linux   Ubuntu is the easiest to use linux distribution. Dell uses 
                           Desktop, Server and Education versions.

Free Software

Free software is a excellent alternative to high price programs.  I use them almost exclusively.   This is just a sampling.

    Open Office  The best replacement for MS Office.
    Google Picasa  One of the best photo management tools there is.
    VLC Media Player  Plays DVDs.  Plays music.  Records radio streams.

Hijack This - Program that looks for malware on your pc.  The logfile can help find what is wrong with your PC.
